Belfort Museums

The Belfort Museums are the leading cultural establishments in the town. There are all sorts of museums with something for everyone.

Lion de Bartholdi

The Belfort Museums form the cultural hub of the town, with something for all ages and all interests.

Those who like architecture and old buildings will be well served what with the pink walls of the Citadel and the Grand Souterrain, which were built by Vauban.

Keen arts lovers will also find many good reasons to come to Belfort. Thanks to the Fine Arts Museum and the Donation Jardot the town really does deserve its title as a Town of Art and History.

To top that the Citadel is home to the Museum of History and Archaeology that houses countless mosaics, sculptures, and arms found in and around the town.

The Office Equipment Museum presents the now forgotten machines which used to be part of people's daily life less than 50 years ago.

But the place that everybody comes to see when in Belfort is the majestic Lion. It is even more interesting when you remember that its sculptor, Bartholdi, was also responsible for the Statue of Liberty.
