Luxeuil-les-Bains, combining well-being and cultural heritage

A real treasure at the entry to the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, Luxeuil-les-Bains is a delightful town that has much to offer its visitors. A popular tourist resort, the town is renowned for its beautiful architectural heritage and its health-giving thermal waters.

Strolling through the old town centre, many of the imposing Vosges sandstone buildings have been classified as historical monuments; visitors will be delighted by the statues and gargoyles peeping out here and there with their facetious faces: the illustrious former residence of Cardinal Jouffroy facing the Tour des Echevins (Aldermens' Tower), Francis I's House saved from destruction by Napoleon III, or the Bailiff's house, among others. Every building has a rich history.

Luxeuil's former splendour as a monastic centre can be seen from its abbey founded by Saint Colombanus, Saint Peter's Basilica and the cloister, and will delight any visitor in search of spirituality.

Numerous archaeological remains have been found in Luxeuil-les-Bains, providing precious clues to the town's history. The excavation at Saint Martin's church has revealed it to be one of the main sites in Eastern Europe during the early Christian and Merovingian periods.  An archaeological tour can be continued with the Gallo-Roman kilns and the Tour des Echevins Museum, which contains ancient offerings, ceramics and funeral relics.

Luxeuil's cultural heritage is not forgotten, with its lace, beautifully presented at the Lace Conservatory, and the paintings of the Luxeuil’s most famous sons, Jules Adler… Festivals such as Art dans la Rue and Pluralies bring this cultural heritage to life and offer visitors a rich artistic experience.

A celebration of well-being, Luxeuil-les-Bains is a promise of serenity and relaxation in the health-giving waters of its spa, during the "musical siestas" in Cardinal Jouffroy's garden, or with a personalized health and fitness programme.

Luxeuil-les-Bains, an invitation to enjoy the gentler side of life!
