Vesoul is a wonderful example of the architectural heritage to be found in Franche-Comté, with many fine old buildings dotted here and there around the town.

Lying at the heart of the beautiful Haute-Saône Department, the old town centre of Vesoul is a place full of heritage.

There are many fine surprises in the old quarter of Vesoul, including the Georges-Garret Museum, the Church of Saint-Georges, and the house where Jean-Léon Gérôme was born.

Like several other French towns Vesoul holds Saint Catherine’s day celebrations, so don't be surprised to see hundreds of stalls in the streets on 25 November.

The town also hosts the International Festival for Asian Cinema during the month of February, a key event for all cinema buffs.

The Jardin des Anglais is always a delight whatever the season, being a pleasant place to stroll in the snow or else to enjoy the spring sunshine.
