We’ve come to the Franche-Comté because the trip could easily be done in a single day. The stunning landscape also attracted us. We are staying at a campsite for 2 weeks and are going on excursions to places like the Grotte d’Osselle and the Cascades du Hérisson. All kinds of activities are available here including swimming, canoeing, mountain-biking, etc. Before our holiday, we looked up the places that we wanted to visit on the internet. We love the beauty of the area, with many lovely places to visit. And it’s so peaceful and free of mass tourism. We would definitely recommend this region, even if only for its breathtaking scenery!

I stay in Franche-Comté regularly to visit family and friends in Besançon. I’m here for 2 weeks and I like to take a swim in the lakes and visit sites as the Citadelle, the Salines of Arc-et-Senans, le Château de Bournel etc. Sometimes I camp a few days on the waterside. I love this region because of the landscape, the mountains and valleys, the rivers and the lakes which are the same as in Sweden. My favorit spot is “la source the la Loue”.You’ll never get bored in Franche-Comté, there is always something to visit. Sometimes I go skiing in the Alps, but in summer I prefer this region.

"We have been to Gray several times on the barge CHRISTINA in the last nine years, the first time to the Mardis du Terroir local produce event; it's the only place where we have dockside contact with a tourist information centre, and the welcome at the lock is also a big plus! We have travelled from Holland and we're heading to St Jean de Losne. We have had dinner twice at a restaurant in Gray, done our shopping and filled up with diesel; we're so attached to the Saône that Lois wants to have his ashes scattered on this enchanting river when he dies..."

"I always loved cycling, so I decided to do the Véloroute E6 from Nantes till Basel. I found the maps On the website of the véloroute. Today I did Cergy – Osselle and I will continue tomorrow to Montbeliard. The countryside is beautiful and I love quietness among the river. I did the route among the  "Canal du Midi "before, I think that these routes are both very beautiful. I recommend definitely this véloroute, also for families. It is flat, children can cope too."

"We always go cycling on our annual holiday. We've done quite a bit of cycling in the United States and in Canada. I discovered the EuroVelo 6 route online with maps and guides. We flew from Montreal to Nantes and left by bike from Pornic. We're going all the way to Strasbourg. There are seven of us. Every year I draw up a route, and anyone who wants to comes along. The quality of the cycle path is exceptional, we make good progress. Everything is well signposted. The alternation between the canal and the Doubs is a visual pleasure. EV6 is an easy, flat route, within anyone's ability. We're not aiming for physical achievement, we like to take things easy. Last year we did the Canal du Midi, but we wouldn't recommend it, it's a minefield! People here are very welcoming and kind. It's friendlier than in Paris. Something else we've noticed is the respect shown by car and truck drivers for cyclists, which is better than in Quebec. Next year we will do the rest of the route: Basel-Budapest."
