Borey is situated in the triangle formed by three cities : Vesoul, Lure and Villersexel. This village is crossed by the Bief stream.
The village was quoted for the first time in official documents in 1211 known as Bosre.
Before the 18th century, an iron-mine was harnessed in Mont-d'Autrey.
Borey's castle is a former feudal castle restored in 1684. It still has its stables, barns and dovecote.
In former times, there were three mills : today there is just one of them, the one of Moulin-Dessous, which partly falls apart.
The church was rebuilt in 1766 at the same place of the former structure, which was created in the 12th century. This is typical of the region, with its bell tower and its classic portal.
On Autrey's road, the Sainte-Barbe's chapel was built in 1875.
